Smart investment workshop - 11 April 14.00 - 17.30 PM

Smart Investments
Strategically optimizing your investment portfolio

Offered by:

It seems to be necessary to create smart solutions: smart meters, smart grids, smart generation. One needs to understand that the energy chain in fact is one system and changes in parts affect the other parts. It is not easy to understand and balance all needs.

On top of that, politics are as usual unclear in direction to go. The constraints which need to be met have become highly complex (Copenhagen protocol 20/20/20) and budgets available are not sufficient to fund all solutions.  Stakeholders are more and more demanding ‘smart’ solutions.

Our engineers produce business cases of individual investment which meet all of our investment criteria! Our budgets are too limited to fund them all.  How to select the ‘smartest’ investments from the overall portfolio is the challenge to be solved?

UMS Group has articulated a methodology to optimize the value from your investment portfolio. The methodology is based on uniform assessment of added value and risk of deferral of investments proposals. Algorithms have been developed to select the best outcome seem from value- and risk perspective.

Based on this methodology an advice to boards of utility companies has been formulated; just focus on ‘No Regret’ investments and defer other investments as long as possible. The workshop will give you a better understanding of this methodology and what is needed to get it implemented.

Theme:
Should I invest in: smart meters or in an upgrade of my control system? Are my grids up to standards to deal with further decentralization and renewable generation? Does my capacity meet with the new T&D needs due to large offshore investments?

What is the best decision?

This session will cover:
  • Present a structured approach and create insight in structured analyses and  evaluation of the different scenario’s
